Wow Alison! That sounds like an awesome course....do they do this one every year? I'd love the website address!

I spent a wonderful week this summer in Lowell, MA at a National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Landmark course. It was one week long, paid a $1200 stipend, offered an optional 3 graduate credits for the work done as part of the course and was attended by teachers from all over the U.S. The professors who spoke were from Amherst, UMassLowell and also the US Park Service. I came home filled with new insights into the role of industrialization in America and new ways to teach about the change from agrarian to industrial society. I loved it and highly recommend the NEH summer teacher courses.

that's great. I really wanted to attend the Islam seminar, too, but I can't get away on the weekends these days. Maybe one day in the future. Thanks for giving your feedback!

I just joined this group today. I am always looking for prof. development opportunities and I have attended a few that I can provide info on too (Pres. Academy, NEH workshops (x4) & Institutes (x1), Gilder Lehrman, Flow of History, Constitution Ctr, FPRI, ...). Over the weekend I attended a seminar on teaching Islam in Cambridge I heard about through this web site!
